Rick began his career in financial investment services in 1990 with an independent, regional firm, where he served as Vice President. Rick worked side-by-side with the founder of the firm, immersing himself in trading, compliance, daily operations, management and advisory services. This formed his foundation for over a decade of investment management work with large investment firms such as Legg Mason, Smith Barney and UBS. Working for large wire houses gave Rick insights and experiences that were invaluable to establishing his approach to investing and client service. He transitioned back to his independent roots at LPL Financial, establishing Welsh Financial Group - a wealth management firm with a focus on client relationships. As the nation's largest independent broker-dealer1, a top RIA custodian, and a leading independent consultant to retirement plans, Rick has strong back office support from his broker/dealer LPL Financial. Rick believes that objective financial guidance is a fundamental need for everyone.
Rick has resided in Howard County, Maryland since 1997 with his wife and six children. He has been an active member of the local community including boy scouts, baseball and softball coaching for many years. Rick has nearly three decades of experience in investments and financial services and knows first hand the challenges of balancing a family and smart financial planning.
